Saudi Arabia has temporarily stopped contracts of 1,800 foreign travel agencies involved in Umrah services. These agencies are part of nearly 5,800 foreign agencies working in the Umrah sector.

On Sunday, Saudi Arabia’s Hajj and Umrah Ministry said the action was taken because these agencies were not providing proper services and had poor performance.

The ministry regularly checks the quality of service and work performance of travel agencies. During recent reviews, problems were found in many agencies. Because of this, the ministry has given them 10 days to correct their mistakes.

The ministry said this step was taken to maintain service standards and to give agencies a chance to improve their work. If the agencies meet the required conditions within the given time, their contracts will be restored.

The ministry also clarified that Umrah pilgrims who already have valid visas and confirmed bookings will not be affected. Their services will continue as usual.

Ministry spokesperson Ghassan Al-Nuwaimi said that the government will continue monitoring the Umrah sector to protect pilgrims’ rights and increase trust in the system.
